Hi, I’m Bettina

I’m an artist drawn to the wild and untamed places. Through the act of painting I connect with the more than human world, with nature & spirit and allow the seen & unseen to manifest.

Carrying my equipment I follow my intuition and let myself be guided to the place where I will paint. From a place of presence and listening, unique paintings emerge. What was invisible becomes visible, what could hardly be felt finds its expression. Ravens might make an appearance, or vast views across mountain tops, the endless horizon beyond the sea. Stone age women might appear, wise women in ceremonies long forgotten, and we might witness encounters between animals and beings for which we have no names. I share these artworks so that the places, encounters, and voices may be experienced by all who behold the paintings with an open heart and an open mind.

I have walked many paths. I have walked the ridges of academia, spoken at conferences, and been published online, in books & academic journals. I have walked the plains of the art world and set up exhibitions around the world.

I have worked with other artists and art organisations to secure funding from the Arts Council and the National Lottery and together we have set up exhibitions in dedicated art galleries across the UK, in London, the crypt of St. Pancras Parish Church, in Vienna, Berlin, Venice, Sorak, Morocco and more.

I have been a teacher of many students, supporting them to express their creativity at Central St. Martins College of Art & Design (UAL), the City Lit and during my own Fine Art Mentoring Schemes.

Before my art career, I have also climbed the steep ascent of a law degree, and I have used my legal expertise to help protect the nature that I love. With groups of civic-minded people in my local community, we have protected the lives of dozens of mature plane trees in our park. My love and care for these wild ancient creatures and their worlds grows steadily as I continue to paint and tend my relationship with the wild. I hope you feel the presence of these special lands and seas through the artworks.
